Our toy is made from cork from a Portuguese cork forest. This forest under the Portuguese sun absorbs up to 4.6 tons of CO2 every year. Unlike wood, the trees are not cut down. To obtain our cork, only the bark of the tree is peeled off, and after about 9 years the bark can be extracted again in a careful, artisanal process. Cork is therefore a plant-based raw material that renews itself quickly. Regularly removing the bark helps to absorb more CO2 from the atmosphere. This makes our toy climate-neutral and made in Europe – for the sake of the environment and all future generations!
How are our cork blocks made?
In the first step, the peeled bark is granulated together with the remains from the cork production. The granulate is then pressed into the appropriate shape in a unique process and finally given a final finish so that it can be coloured and is also easy to maintain. With the bright water-based colours, the cork toy finally becomes an eye-catcher and beautifies any child's room.
