Monchhichi was born in Japan in 1974, designed by Koichi Sekiguchi with a simple and powerful philosophy: to convey love and tenderness through a toy. Its name combines mon (monkey, in French), chi (small and sweet, in Japanese) and chichi (the sound of a baby sucking). A name that says it all.
In the 80s, it was a huge hit in Europe and the United States, with its own animated series. Today, it is a kawaii and retro symbol that is still relevant — and highly sought after by collectors.
