Sustainable children's fashion: brands that choose the future (and color)
Talking about sustainable fashion for children might sound like a trend. But at Älva, we’ve been choosing brands for almost twenty years based on what they do, not just what they say. And what they say has to match what’s inside the garments, in the factories, and on the planet we’re leaving to the very children who wear them.
Here are some of the brands we carry in-store that, in our opinion, are truly making a difference.
Mini Rodini — Sweden
Swedish brand Mini Rodini is probably the global leader in sustainable children’s fashion with design. All their garments are made from 100% certified materials under standards like GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and GRS (Global Recycled Standard), which cover not only the raw material but the entire production chain. Leftover fabrics from previous collections are reused in upcycling collections — they never burn stock. And they design without gender distinction, something that fits perfectly with Älva’s philosophy.
Pure Pure by Bauer — Germany
Pure Pure is a German family business with over 70 years of experience, specializing in organic merino wool from certified farms in Patagonia and GOTS-certified organic cotton. They plant trees to offset their CO₂ footprint and produce exclusively in Europe to reduce transport emissions. Their hats, mittens, and outerwear are those essential items that pass from sibling to sibling without losing their shape.
Ava & Yves — Germany
Ava & Yves plush toys and accessories are pure organic cotton on the outside and recycled polyester on the inside. Rattles, comforters, and plush toys designed from the start with cleaner materials — a detail that seems small but makes a difference when we’re talking about the first objects a baby comes into contact with.
Babyclic — Spain
Babyclic was born from the childcare brand Praia, with a great tradition in Spain. All their garments are designed here and production is split between Mataró (Barcelona) and Porto (Portugal). Sustainable materials, ethical manufacturing, and local sourcing. Choosing Babyclic means supporting local industry.
Lötiekids — Spain
Born in Barcelona, Lötiekids combines the warmth of Nordic style with Japanese simplicity. Organic cotton, local production, and timeless garments designed to last more than one season. One of those brands that don't follow trends because they don't need to.
And at Älva, too
Sustainability doesn't stop at the brands we choose. In-store, we wrap gifts with recycled paper and reusable materials. Online orders come in compostable envelopes, reused boxes, and paper tape — no unnecessary plastic. Because if we demand consistency from brands, we demand it from ourselves too.
